The alleged facts: patients reportedly suffered deprivation every day for about three years and were abusively placed in solitary confinement by nurses and nursing assistants from the Ravenel psychiatric hospital, located in Mirecourt in the Vosges.
A dozen patients would have been mistreated daily
Problem: these patients (a dozen) suffer from a severe handicap and their ability to talk about what happened to them is called into question.
We must therefore first wait for an assessment of their ability to testify in the context of the investigation.
Pending the conclusions of the investigation and the appearance before a disciplinary board, the three nurses (including an intern) and the two nurses suspected were suspended.
The abuse was reported by staff
Alerts about abusewithin the establishment had been made by the nursing staff.
In establishments of this type, this is unfortunately not a unique case since some employees sometimes go beyond the limits with fragile patients such as seniors or people suffering from mental and/or physical disorders.
