New technologies give insurers more and more information (‘big data’) about their customers. Do you see this as a danger or do you think that important information should be shared with the insurer?
Digitization
The amount of information useful to insurers is increasing. For example, installed boxes in the car provide clarity about people’s driving behaviour. Safe drivers can then be rewarded with a lower premium. Devices are also increasingly connected to the internet, making people’s (search) behavior more visible.
Comprehensive Control
The Dutch Association of Insurers wants to allay concerns about this subject. Information about customers should not lead to people being excluded from certain insurance policies or that some pay less, according to the trade association. The Association will check this annually. If it does happen, insurers will ‘put their heads together’.
