Various hospitals are experimenting with it: the deployment of informal carers in the hospital. For example, patients are better guided and the transition home is better arranged, according to the first research results. What do you think of that? Respond to the statement.
ONCE, good when carers help
As a carer, it is nice to be directly involved in the care of your loved one. The informal carer is not thrown in at the deep end in the hospitals concerned. At the Amsterdam UMC, the deployment of informal carers is now being tested for major procedures on the pancreas or esophagus. Maastricht UMC even has training for informal carers. And by the way: in many countries it is very common for the family to help out in the hospital.
DON’T, that’s not the caregiver’s job
As a carer you help someone at home. In the hospital there are now other people for that. Carers and nurses who have been trained to do so and who can therefore do better. Furthermore, the caregiver’s job can be demanding and tiring. Why should you also participate in the hospital? Especially if you also work or have children at home, that is not something to do. In addition, not everyone has a caregiver available.
