June 2, 2004 – A regular soy diet is believed to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer, especially in overweight women.
This is the discovery of a team of Chinese researchers who carried out a retrospective case-control study1 in 832 women with this cancer and 846 other women who did not. All were between 30 and 69 years old and lived in Shanghai.
Based on the soy consumption habits of the past five years among these women, the study shows that there is an inversely proportional relationship between soy consumption and the risk of endometrial cancer: the latter decreases over time. as the consumption of soy products increases.
Soy is full of isoflavones, a natural active chemical compound that can act in two ways in women: either block the negative effects of too much estrogen production, or meet the needs if the body produces insufficient.
