France is confined, the sports halls at a standstill. To practice, we go out less than 1km from home for an hour daily. But some exceptions confirm the rule: school practices, high level athletes, STAPS students … are maintained. What about those who practice sport for rehabilitation or in the event of a disability?
There is an exception to the rule concerning the closure of sports halls. Some are still open to the public with a prescription. Because for people with a physical disability, undergoing rehabilitation or affected by a chronic disease, abruptly stopping all physical activity would be too harmful.
Maintain sports therapy
On the website of the Ministry of Sports, there is an explanatory table of what is authorized and prohibited in terms of sports practice. This is authorized with a derogatory certificate for “people with disabilities or with a medical prescription for adapted physical activity (APA) and accompanying guide“. It is well specified”the public buildings are closed but these public benefit from an exemption to access them“. Sanitary measures are therefore adapted to it.
It’s about a novelty compared to the first confinement. This decision is explained by a desire to recognize sport as an essential therapy for certain pathologies. Moreover, this is part of a logic hammered out by the government: containment should not interfere with treatment (or screening) for disease.
