In its November issue, the magazine 60 Million Consumers published the results of a survey of 18 condom models. Results that are cause for concern.
Risks of bursting or rupture
The magazine 60 million consumers has tested the resistance of 18 models of condoms of different brand, thickness and material all displaying the European CE label.
Among the models tested, 4 of them did not withstand the bursting and breaking tests: Contact, from the Manix brand (holes were even observed on this one); Invisible, from the Soft brand; Classic, from the Pharmactiv brand and Get out covered (a condom reimbursable by Health Insurance).
The models that have been highly rated by the magazine are Classic Natural, from the Protext condoms brand (16.5 / 20); Blaudand, from the brand Ceylor (16/20) and Durex natural sensation without latex (15.5 / 20).
“Ultra-thin” as thick as the “thin”
60 million consumers also assessed the conformity of the dimensions of condoms. The Contact models by Manix and Invisible by Soft, which claim to be “ultra-thin”, ended up being as thick as the “thin” models.
Should you choose CE marking?
The NF mark, one of the leading certification marks in Europe, is not compulsory, but more demanding than the European CE mark. The NF models from the selection of 60 million consumers do not all come out on top of the ranking, but the magazine suggests all the same to choose them or to choose those of the Swiss brand OK.
Remember, however, that, for optimal use, the precautions for using and storing condoms must be observed.
