Ready-made satay sauces contain a lot of sugar and often too much salt, the Consumers’ Association recently headlined. But why would you buy a ready-made satay sauce, when homemade is so much tastier? This spicy version – without added sugar – is easy to make and tastes delicious.
Ingredients
-
250 g 100% peanut butter
-
250 ml coconut milk
-
3 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp sambal
-
1 clove garlic, crushed
-
Salty
Preparation
Place the peanut butter in a saucepan over a very low heat and add 200 ml coconut milk. Heat it slowly until a thick sauce is formed. Now add the sambal, soy sauce and garlic. Stir well and then add the last coconut milk while stirring. Keep stirring until an even sauce is formed. Add (a little) salt to taste if needed.
Too spicy? Then try this homemade low-sodium satay sauce.
