The Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV presents itself as an alternative to the better equipped and more dynamic Enyaq, in its look but also in its services, since this new electric SUV is available in a strong RS variant of 300 hp.
As promised, Skoda presents in good and due form the Enyaq Coupé iV. The Czech manufacturer of the Volkswagen group, which had already communicated several times on this “fastback” variant of its electric SUV, had kept a few surprises warm. The autonomy of its last-born is a little better than announced and, above all, the vehicle is available in a sporty RS variant. A first for a “zero emission” Skoda.
Coupe by name, SUV above all
The Enyaq Coupé more or less takes up the features of the 2019 Vision iV concept car, therefore the style of the standard Enyaq. But it is mainly distinguished by its flag describing an arc of a circle to the rear end of the car. Within a few millimeters, the dimensions of the two models are the same with 4.65 m long, 1.88 m wide, 1.62 m high and 2.77 m wheelbase. The coupe has a 570 l trunk, 15 l less than the classic Enyaq, and Skoda promises a rear roof guard similar to that of an Octavia Combi despite the inclination of the uprights.
The SUV has an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.234. It’s much better than the 0.257 of the “very short” Enyaq, and even better than the 0.247 promised by Skoda last summer. The result is a WLTP range of 545 km according to Skoda’s estimates for the best-optimized version in this area, 10 km more than the manufacturer initially expected, and 17 km better than the standard powertrain Enyaq. equivalent.
300 hp for the Enyaq Coupe RS
The Enyaq Coupé is positioned more upscale than the Enyaq, it only includes the most efficient engines. Its range therefore begins with the 60 version, equipped with a rear engine of 180 hp and a battery of 58 kWh net. Above comes the 204 hp 80 model with 77 kWh battery, the best from a range point of view. A 265 hp twin-engine 80x model with all-wheel drive is also in the catalog. The offer is capped by the Enyaq Coupé RS iV. Its two engines provide 300 hp, 460 Nm of torque and four-wheel drive., its top speed is limited to 180 km/h, compared to 160 km/h for the rest of the range, and it takes over the 77 kWh battery of the lower model. Skoda announces a time of 6.5 s to go from 0 to 100 km / h, as much as a small contemporary “GTI”.
A more flattering cut version
For a sportier look than the standard Enyaq, the Enyaq Coupé features body-coloured side sills as standard and sits on standard 19-inch rims, not 18. The Sportline and RS versions are lowered by 15 mm to the front and 10 mm at the rear; they also feature 20-inch wheels and black trim details. The RS model is also distinguished by the reflector which highlights its rear bumper and can be painted in the bright green “Mamba Green” tint.
The coupe is also more flattering than the standard SUV in terms of equipment. It has a panoramic roof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning andt a central 13-inch touch screen among others. The backlit “Crystal Face” grille and matrix LED headlamps are standard on the RS model. Like the Enyaq, the Enyaq Coupe is configured via interior ambiences and equipment packs rather than using traditional finishes. Adaptive and predictive cruise control, level 2 semi-autonomous driving and assisted parking are for example in the catalog.
From the second half of 2022, certain features may be activated or deactivated, including for a limited time, remotely using vehicle connectivity. This proposal is part of the new strategy of the Volkswagen group (and others), consisting in equipping vehicles with equipment requiring paid software activation, such as options on demand. The prices of the Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV for the French market will be known soon. They could be more attractive than those of its “cousin”, the Volkswagen ID.5.
