Doctors are surprised by the number of shoulder pains that adults of all ages come to see. It has just been discovered that the computer mouse is the cause. The proof on vacation.
- Shoulder pain is a common symptom, especially after the age of 50.
- The shoulder has three bones: the collarbone, the scapula or shoulder blade, and the humerus.
Shoulder pain is often unbearable and ends up interfering with sleep because it does not yield to rest. And above all, the origin of which is rarely found. In most of these shoulder pains, even the most sophisticated examinations are normal. Conventional treatments only have a reduced effect, whether anti-inflammatories or corticosteroid injections. Only physiotherapy manages to alleviate the suffering a little, at the cost of many very specialized sessions.
Stillness in front of the computer
In a few cases, this pain goes away as suddenly as it came, but most of the time, sleep other than lying on your back is impossible. So it is not uncommon to see the doctor prescribe painkillers or sleeping pills that solve the problem very badly, because the cause is not really relieved.
It will have taken, in fact, long enough to understand that the vast majority of these symptoms, which are often found in frenzied athletes who brutalize their shoulder, are, in fact, due to… immobility in front of the computer and simple mouse movement. A wire that is too short, a badly placed keyboard and screen are enough, when the gesture is repeated thousands of times, to create this trauma to our muscles, tendons and joints. And this is very quickly the case when the station in front of the computer exceeds the daily hour, which is the minimum ration of a convinced Internet user. As the cause is not treated, the drugs act like a plaster on a wooden leg.
Computer abstinence, a simple remedy
To make the pain give way, the remedy is quite simple. A few days, even weeks if the pain is deep, of computer abstinence, helped by anti-inflammatories, which have a real reason to be prescribed. It is often a pain that curiously disappears away from work…
It is also necessary to put in place simple measures. Change the mouse to a trackball, extend the cable or go wireless to avoid surfing with your arm outstretched. Revise the chair so that the arms and eyes are in the ideal position in relation to the keyboard and the screen.
Admittedly, our doctors are becoming more and more competent in the face of this type of problem not taught during their studies, but the best common sense advice is still to be found… by surfing!
