Relaxing and effective
A self-massage for leg problems is not only relaxing, but also has a positive effect on blood circulation. The tips & tricks for a nice massage.
In the busy everyday life, a massage is always nice. But a massage of the limbs is not only nice and relaxing, it also has a positive effect on various leg complaints. You can do it yourself, just in between, but if someone else does it for you, the effect is of course all the greater.
A leg massage improves the circulatory system and has a beneficial effect on, among other things, tired and heavy legs, varicose veins and cellulite. A massage can also work well after exercise. Use a massage oil, essential oil or cream with ingredients that have a positive effect on the blood circulation (jojoba, horse chestnut, witch hazel).
How do you work?
You sit in a comfortable place, but on an edge. The edge of your bed, for example, or the edge of the bath. Put a stool in front of you. Place one leg on the stool and distribute the massage oil or cream well over your leg with circular movements.
From the bottom to the top
Start kneading the calves, but don’t apply too much pressure. You start at your foot and knead upwards towards the knee. You iron again and alternate your hands. Be careful not to apply pressure just behind the knee or on any varicose veins.
When massaging the back of the thighs, you may apply firm pressure with the heel of your hand pointing upwards. This will loosen any tense muscles. Now knead the thighs well on the outside from top to bottom. You still switch hands. Make circular movements around the knees with the thumbs, but do not apply direct pressure to the kneecap. Then you stretch from the knee in the direction of the hip. First do this on the front of the thigh and then on the back. Do each leg in this manner twice.
leg mask
For very tired legs, you can apply your cream thickly, raise your legs and cover them to prevent cooling. Leave the cream on for about 20 minutes. The fatigue is gone and it is a nice boost for the skin.
Bonus: the feet
While you’re at it, don’t forget your feet. A foot massage is relaxing and improves blood circulation. Ideal for people with cold feet.
How does it work?
Rub some more oil or cream between your hands and spread it over your feet. Then you put your foot on the knee, then you can easily reach the sole of your foot. You start with your little toe and then massage each toe with your thumb and forefinger a few times. To massage the sole of the foot, place two hands on the foot and massage with the thumbs, with circular movements, from the inside out.
