The first half did not smile on the second-hand market. With 2.74 million registered registrations, sales of second-hand cars fell by 11.4%. According to data from NGC Data®, find out which were your favorite models: Renault Clio, Citroën C3, Volkswagen Golf…
While the used vehicle market had so far withstood the various crises well, it is now experiencing a bit of a slack. In the first half of 2022, it is indeed in decrease of 11.4%. The fault, in large part, to a shortage of recent models, which stems directly from the production difficulties encountered by car manufacturers for two years. Nevertheless, more than 2.74 million second-hand cars have changed hands since the start of the year, when the new had to settle for 772,046 registrations, i.e. almost 3.5 times less. Models over 8 years old limit breakage better than the others, with a reduction of 7.8%. As for the Renault Clio, it remains firmly at the top of the rankings, despite a fall of more than 17%.

The Peugeot 208 behind the Golf and C3
A solid first on the new market, the Peugeot 208 must always settle for fourth position here. She is at a disadvantage compared to the Renault Clio, which takes advantage of its name used for five generations to display nearly 100,000 registrations more than its rival. Note the fine performance of its fourth version, which represents 54 278 sales out of 178,159. For similar reasons, the Volkswagen Golf maintains its position on the third step of the podium thanks to its 73,737 registrations. A fine result which contrasts with the timid scores of its eighth generation, unable to climb into the top 30 in nine in France for the moment. The Citroën C3 manages to climb to second position. Born a dozen years later than the Clio, it still displays a much greater seniority than the 208, which only appeared in 2012.

The premiums are holding up
Premium models are still popular with the public, and some are even up slightly from 2021. The Audi A3 thus recorded an increase in registrations of 4.55% and finished 28e. The queen of used sedans, the BMW 3 Series, goes from 23e up to 17e with 30,580 copies exchanged. While its rival the Mercedes C-Class enters the top 30 in 2022 thanks to its 20,549 sales. It grills the priority of 1,000 units at the Volkswagen Tiguan. Its little sister, the Class A, grabs two places (26e) even if it remains behind the BMW 1 Series, which gains four positions compared to 2021 (20e).
