In a few days, only RT-PCR and antigen tests will be recognized for the health pass. And these will no longer be systematically reimbursed.
- Self-tests, even supervised by a health professional, will no longer allow you to obtain a health pass.
- There are still 7.5 million French people who are not vaccinated and therefore directly affected by these measures.
From October 15, self-tests will no longer be recognized as proof for the health pass. And this, even if they are carried out under the supervision of a health professional. People who are not vaccinated will therefore have no other choice: to do an RT-PCR or antigenic test to obtain the precious sesame. The period of validity of the health pass obtained by these two means remains unchanged: 72 hours.
7.5 million unvaccinated French people
These new provisions were published in a press release from the Ministry of Solidarity and Health entitled “Evolution of the coverage of Covid screening tests from October 15”. This document estimates that there are still 7.5 million French people who are not vaccinated and therefore directly affected by these measures.
25 euros for an antigen test in a pharmacy
For them, October 15 will also mark the end of free Covid-19 screening tests, which will no longer be systematically covered by Health Insurance. The reference price for an RT-PCR test will be 43.89 euros. For an antigenic, the price may vary depending on the health professional who performs it: 22.02 euros in the laboratory, 25.01 euros at a pharmacist (and 30.01 euros on Sundays) and 45.11 euros – including the consultation – with a doctor or with a midwife.
Tests reimbursed under certain conditions
Under certain conditions, TR-PCR and antigen tests may be reimbursed. Some symptomatic people or contact at risk will be covered by Health Insurance if they are in one of these cases: have a complete vaccination schedule or a contraindication to vaccination, be a minor, be identified as part of the contact-tracing done by Health Insurance. To these must be added those who will be part of collective screening campaigns organized by regional health agencies or within national education establishments, for example, or even patients with a medical prescription, or those with a certificate of reinstatement less than six months old.
150 million tests carried out since March 2020
According to the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, France is one of the countries where the most tests are carried out per inhabitant. Since March 2020, more than 150 million have been made, including 6 million per week last August, when the health pass was extended. In recent weeks, between 3.5 and 4 million tests have still been carried out in France.
With the upcoming delisting of tests, the government therefore guarantees the coverage of those known as screenings but not those which are only intended for obtaining a health pass.
