At Roubaix hospital, a doctor accused of violence against staff and patients is under investigation.
In Roubaix, a doctor suspected of mistreating is the subject of an investigation by the Council of the Order, reports France Blue North. Suspicions of ill-treatment of nursing staff and patients hovered over this practitioner.
Some fifty testimonies were collected by the CHSCT (Health, Safety and Working Conditions Committee) reporting recurring insults, physical and verbal violence from this doctor operating in the operating room.
Kick, blood bag
The local media thus evokes “kicking a nurse, attempt to strangle another, this doctor would also have threatened with a scalpel a member of the nursing staff, another would have received a blood bag (…), patients would have been insulted, others, under local anesthesia, would have even been beaten ”.
The situation is such that at Roubaix hospital, a golden rule has been tacitly adopted between members of the nursing staff: never work more than one day a week with the abuser, at the risk of harming their mental health. . The doctor “would put them in a stressful situation almost permanently” if the nurses worked more, explains the regional radio.
The doctor no longer operates
The CHSCT sent a letter on January 19, 2017 to the hospital management to warn them of this particularly risky situation. Since that date, the doctor no longer operates in the operating room and no longer gives consultations at the Roubaix hospital center.
The secretary of the hospital’s CGT, Frédéric de Rycker, accuses the management of a form of “omerta” around the practitioner. The Council of the Order of Physicians has appointed a doctor to visit the site. A report will be made within three months.
