Converting a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow into a luxury station wagon, that’s the crazy idea Clyde Cassidy had. This American, passionate about the British brand, chose to make his own station wagon, based on a 1972 Silver Shadow.
The result is impeccable, to the point of making some doubt about the transformation: would this version not be factory crimped? However, no station wagon has seen the light of day at Rolls-Royce, despite the wishes of certain illustrators… It is indeed the work of Clyde Cassidy, a “car enthusiast“American who wanted an original and personalized car. The work, which he carried out alone, would have cost him 100,000 dollars in total. The car being American, the steering wheel is on the left.
A copy like new
Inside, everything is like new. The vehicle has been maintained with care and it shows: the seats are slightly weathered but the blue leather is impeccable, just like the blue carpets and woodwork that run across the dashboard. The transformation into a station wagon makes it possible to increase the load volume in height, even if this also weighs down the vehicle, already far from being a ballerina.
On the mechanical side, the engine has been overhauled with recent invoices for over $ 10,000. To note that odometer displays 90 061 km, which is relatively little since the entry into service in 1972. The engine is still the V8 6.2 of 174 hp, and here it is associated with an automatic gearbox.
