Charging is no longer necessary
This is pretty cool. An RC Mirai that also really runs on hydrogen. The radio-controlled Toyota Mirai is on Tamiya’s TT-02 chassis. Usually you insert a battery that drives an electric motor. The regular battery disappeared to make room for a miniature fuel cell developed by the Bramble Energy company. The innovation seems to be easily scalable, which is why they now made it in scale 1 to 10.
The small fuel cell converts hydrogen into electricity that drives an electric motor. When the hydrogen is used up, the two green hydrogen cartridges can be replaced by full ones. According to Toyota, this hydrogen RC drives twice as far as other radio-controlled cars. The hood of the Mirai is specially made for Toyota by Tamiya.
The RC Mirai from Toyota and Tamiya is a nice publicity stunt, but for now there are no plans to offer the small hydrogen car to the public. Of course you can just buy the Tamiya TT-02 with a battery pack. We also don’t think anyone is waiting on the hood for his or her remote-controlled car.
