A Finn for a Fin
The Formula 1 rumor mill has been running at full speed for some time. The first pieces of the puzzle fell when Kimi Räikkönen announced his departure at the end of this season. Alfa Romeo now confirms that Valtteri Bottas is moving to Alfa Romeo and will take over his seat next year. The way now seems to be clear for George Russell to make the switch to Mercedes next year.
In 2017, Bottas came to Mercedes for the outgoing Nico Rosberg. Since then, he has taken nine wins for the team. The last win for Bottas was in Russia last year. Since then it has been increasingly difficult for the Finn to keep up with the pace of Hamilton and Verstappen in the race. And with an up-and-coming talent like George Russell putting Williams in places he shouldn’t be, the seat has become untenable for Bottas.
