30,000 people are not allowed to come
Today ticket holders of the DutchGP will hear by email whether they can come to the F1 race in Zandvoort in September. Unfortunately, the organization has to disappoint about 30,000 people, which amounts to 33 percent of the visitors. The reason behind the reversal of visitor numbers is of course corona. Remarkably enough, the selection of visitors does not take place via a kind of lottery, but is manually checked who can come.
People with the cheapest tickets are not allowed to come
Sporting director Jan Lammers says: ‘The distribution is not simply a drawing of lots, but a complex puzzle. We have to take several variables into account before allocating the available tickets.’ People with tickets for ‘General Admission’ are unlucky anyway and are not allowed to come. These were the cheapest tickets for the Dutch GP, without a fixed seat. It makes sense that these tickets are the first to be deleted, because according to the corona measures, people must have a seat at such an event. But people with other cards will also be disappointed.
Jan Lammers continues: ‘We have also tried not to split up as many groups and families as possible, we have to take into account, among other things, the safety and mobility plan around Zandvoort, the interests of local entrepreneurs and of course the Covid policy rules. Unfortunately, quite a few fans will not be allowed to come. That’s incredibly annoying, we don’t have a choice. Fortunately, we can promise these fans that they will of course be there for the next edition.’
Those who are not allowed to come, are allowed in 2022
Ticket holders who are not allowed to come to the Dutch GP this year automatically have tickets for next year. Those who prefer a refund can do so online from August 22 to September 16. People who do go to the GP must show a valid QR code via the CoronaCheck app. Anyone who has not been vaccinated or does not yet have a valid code must be tested in advance and submit a negative result.
