Robert finds something of all the hassle
The Grand Prix of the Netherlands can officially continue after the court ruling earlier today. The summary proceedings brought by environmental organization MOB against the organization of the GP were rejected. TopGear spoke with Robert Doornbos to ask his opinion about the nitrogen discussion surrounding the GP of the Netherlands.
Nice of the organization
‘You shouldn’t underestimate this nitrogen lawsuit,’ says Doornbos. ‘The gentleman who filed the lawsuit also ensured that we now drive at 100 km/h in the Netherlands. So he sometimes gets things done.’
The former F1 driver is happy with this judge’s ruling. ‘Don’t go too far. I’m really a bit sick that there have been so many bumps to get the GP done. And that while this is the only commercial Grand Prix of the calendar without government support. It is very clever what Bernhard and his partners have achieved. As an entrepreneur I can only respect that.’
very childish
‘There will be one day that the Netherlands will be put on the map, that everyone will have a job and that all hotels will be fully booked. I find it very childish that, for example, a Red Bull airplane show is cancelled. Would that one plane really make that much of a difference?’ And Robert has no doubts about the emissions that the Formula 1 cars themselves cause. “Running at speed for an entire season emits as much emissions as a Boeing 747 flying across the Atlantic.”
