SUV and electric, here are the two words which, in 2024, will define the Renault Scénic. A page turns for the compact MPV. Does this fifth version change everything? We take stock of this big brother of the electric Mégane E-Tech and rival of the Volkswagen ID.4.
In 2024, the fifth generation of the Renault Scénic will enter the scene. Attention, apart from the name and the diamonds on the bodywork, this new version will have absolutely nothing in common with its predecessors. First of all, he will abandon the habit of the minivan which stuck to his skin since the very first concept car unveiled in 1991, then in 1996 for the Renault Mégane Scénic which resulted from it. Then, it will abandon thermal engines. In summary, in two years, the Renault Scénic will therefore designate an SUV animated by the fairy electricity. Better than a change, it’s a revolution! And to accompany this change, the style is also transcended. To get used to it, the manufacturer unveiled, last May, the Renault Scénic Vision prototype whose lines foreshadow, from a reliable source, the dress of the production model. It is Gilles Vidal, the boss of the Renault style who confirmed it to us. The dimensions of the prototype: 4.49 m long and a wheelbase of 2.83 m will also be those of the production model.

Classic doors and structure.
The SUV silhouette characterized by a long horizontal bonnet, an imposing front and side windows ending in an arrow will always be present. The light signature that can also evoke two half-diamonds. Just like the mesh of diamonds on either side of the logo on the grille. On the other hand, the rear doors with antagonistic opening and the body structure without a middle pillar will be quickly abandoned to return to openings and a conventional hull.. No more question of making the show, for the Renault Scénic but rather of limiting the costs of development and industrialization which will be ensured in France in the Douai factory alongside the future Renault 5 electric.
Scénic 5: the interior of the Mégane
Just like the doors in “showcar” mode ensuring the show, the high-tech and futuristic interior of the Renault Scénic Vision will quickly be forgotten on the Scénic that we can afford in real life. No panoramic screen at the foot of the windshield to “erase” the bonnet, no aeronautical type steering wheel like Tesla Yoke or Lexus Papillon either. And don’t expect four independent, suspended seats. No, the Renault Scénic will take over the dashboard with the “L” digital interface that appeared on its little sister Mégane E-Tech Electric and then shared by the Renault Austral SUV. The latter will yield to the 2024 Scénic E-Tech its sliding rear seat. A classic 5-seater layout inaugurated by the current Renault Scénic 4 in 2016.
The latter had, in a way, prepared the transition to the world of recreational vehicles with its two-tone dress, its high perched posture and its large 20-inch wheels which will be carried over to the fifth version. Between the front seats, a sliding center console should also be renewed with modularity and above all improved practicality. Indeed, in the case of the current Renault Scénic 4, the sliding console in the rear position condemned the central rear seat, a false good idea for the apostle of versatility.
Finally, under the hood, the electric machine that appeared with the Mégane E-Tech Electric will be taken over by the Scénic. Two versions will be offered: 150 hp and 220 hp. The 60 kWh battery will be accompanied by a second 90 kWh. On the other hand, no version with two engines and four-wheel drive like the technical cousin of the Scénic, the Nissan Ariya. As for the prices, the entry ticket will be over €40,000.
