The Collecting Cars house is organizing the sale of a collection of twelve Renaults until March 13. From the popular (4L, Clio…) to the more sporty (Spider, Mégane RS, A110), all are in excellent condition and have low mileage. They were once owned by the British branch of the manufacturer.
Notice to collectors fond of Renault models: twelve vehicles are offered in the same auction organized online until March 13th. The vehicles are in exceptional condition. It should be noted that the collection was owned by Renault UK for a long time before being sold to a British dealer. The maintenance has therefore been done meticulously, and the cars are running well according to Collecting Cars.
The oldest model in the collection is none other than a Renault 4 GTL. Its first owner never restored it since its purchase in 1985. He kept it until November 2017, when it was acquired by Renault UK. This R4, which one would think left the factory with regard to its state of preservation, nevertheless totals more than 77,000 km on the odometer. It is powered by the 1.1 l four-cylinder with a power of 34 hp. At the time of writing, this R4 already exceeds €11,000 with 42 bidders.
Then comes a copy of Supercinq GTL, also red and registered in 1985. It had only one owner, between 1985 and 2009. Its history is clear with supporting invoices. It totals less than 35,000 km, in other words not much for a model almost 40 years old.
Renault UK had also taken care to collect the first three generations of Clio.
- The Mk1 (1991) in RT finish is offered in a light gray-blue color. It has an automatic transmission. Its 1.4 l of around 74 hp has covered just over 45,000 km.
- The Mk2 phase 1 (2000) is dressed in green and has 14-inch steel rims with hubcaps. Its 59 hp 1.2 l, coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox, has covered less than 20,000 km.
- The silver-colored Mk3 (2007) has fairly low mileage. Its 98 hp 1.4 l has covered 36,292 km in the hands of three owners. Renault acquired it in 2019.
IManuals as well as complete maintenance books are obviously supplied with the cars. Four days from the end of the auction, they are still trading under €3,000. Be careful though, eleven of these British models are in right-hand drive configuration (excluding Alpine).
…to the extreme 1997 Spider
The sale also offers more sporty models. There is a copy of the 1977 Alpine A110 1600SX restored in 2016. It is one of the ultimate versions of the Berlinette. It is therefore fitted with the Type 843 “Cléon-Alu” four-cylinder in-line engine, boosted to 150 hp thanks to the addition of two Weber 45 DCOE carburettors.
The odometer of this left-hand drive version (the only one in the catalogue) shows 77,595 kilometres. Registered for the first time in Spain, this A110 was acquired by Renault UK from a Spanish rally champion. She is a star since she has been on the cover of magazines and participated in elegance competitions or prestigious events such as Goodwood. Offered in its mythical Alpine blue hue, the coupé exceeded the £65,000 mark, or more than €77,000.
Speaking of rarities, the collection also includes a Renault Spider with just over 8,000 km. As a reminder, only 1,726 copies of the sports car left the production line, including 96 with right-hand drive. The model has belonged to Renault UK from new. The vehicle was part of the press fleet at launch. It is equipped with a four-cylinder 2.0 l atmospheric of 150 hp.
The wise Clio II can also put on its tracksuit. Collecting Cars offers for sale a 2005 RenaultSport 182 Trophy version in red with some 20,000 km on the clock. This bombinette was first used as a press car at launch before being repatriated by the UK subsidiary for its collection. A magnificent Saturn yellow Clio V6 phase 2 is also for sale with almost identical mileage. For the time being, the bids are rather wise, but they could fly away. The Collecting Cars site sold similar models a few weeks apart between €88,000 and over €100,000.

The Mégane RS at the party
The Mégane RS are no less represented with three examples in the collection. Two R26.R models from 2008 are available for circuit enthusiasts. These are even the first chassis, numbered 000 and 001. The prices could ultimately exceed €50,000 given their impeccable condition and their low mileage (less than 36,000 km). Finally, let’s finish with the most recent model of the lot, namely a Megane RS 275 Trophy-R from 2015. This is the most radical and accomplished version of the line. For example, it broke the lap record on the Nürburgring circuit in the production vehicle category with traction (7”54’36) in 2014. The example offered for sale has just over 20,000 km on its odometer. .
