84% of women believe that their spouse does not give them enough compliments.
- Today there are 15 million couples in France.
- Since 2007, this INED figure has remained stable.
According to a new study, the lack of compliments within the couple would directly influence their good understanding and their solidity, and would even push some women to look elsewhere.
“A subject still taboo”
“Infidelity is still a taboo subject in our society. Few couples dare to speak about it openly, even though France is one of the countries where people cheat the most in Europe. of infidelity that couples could on the contrary avoid it”, explains Solène Paillet, communications director of Gleeden, to justify her survey.
According to the responses of more than 11,000 female members of this extramarital dating site, the lack of compliments from their spouse would have a direct link with their cravings for infidelity. Thus, 84% of the women surveyed believe that their spouse does not give them enough compliments, and 61% of them declare that this lack of attention regularly leads to frustration and tension within their couple. More than three-quarters of respondents (77%) even consider that it ended up pushing them to seek an extramarital relationship.
Need to feel “desired” and “valued”
The need to feel “desired” and “valued” is also the reason mentioned by 82% of respondents to explain their desire for infidelity. Others believe that it comes from the need to reconnect with their femininity and to prove that they can still seduce (76%). Finally, 42% surveyed said they had lost their desire in the face of a spouse who “no longer pays attention to them”.
“What prevails for me, at least what I observe in the firm, is that infidelity and more broadly, a good part of the problems of the couple, result from a lack of communication”, completes Noëline Toribio, analytical sex therapist and psychopractitioner, in Mieux Vivre Santé.
