According to a study conducted by American researchers among 82,000 women aged 27 to 44, and published by the journal Archives of Dermatology, the risk of psoriasis is higher in women who drink an average of 5 beers per week (at exception of light beers).
Regular consumption of beer would even double the risk of developing the disease compared to women who do not drink it. On the other hand, the consumption of light beer or other types of alcohol, such as wine, would have no effect on the development of the disease.
According to the researchers, the development of psoriasis is caused by various factors, but could be particularly triggered by barleythe cereal used for the fermentation of beer, which contains gluten.
