On the occasion of the 11th World Psoriasis Day, the France Psoriasis association has put in place practical tools. She created a social network Psolidaires, and an edutainment game “Theo and the Psorianauts” to help patients with psoriasis and continue to fight prejudice.
Indeed, the 2.5 million French people affected by psoriasisare victims of many preconceived ideas. Forced to live with a disease that cannot be cured (but can be treated), they also suffer a double penalty. They would have difficulty socializing for fear of being judged as contagious, psychologically weak and even sometimes dirty. They endure daily avoidance in the world of work, public spaces and even experience rejection in the life of a couple and family.
Moreover, 4 out of 10 French people say they prefer to keep their distance from people with psoriasis and 5% of French people still believe that psoriasis is a contagious disease, according to a recent study by the association.
New tools to help patients
To combat these prejudices and the ignorance of this sicknessthe France Psoriasis association has developed a social network, Psolidaires, the first forum allowing patients to discuss with each other and with professionals on various topics related to psoriasis.
“Psolidaires was created because together, we are stronger against psoriasis! No longer feeling alone, living better with the disease and contributing to research, these are the objectives of this independent and protected social network,” explains Mélanie Aubin, mission and communication officer for France Psoriasis.
It has also made available a new educational game “Theo and the Psorianauts” “which will allow the youngest to have, in a playful way, explanations on psoriasis, advice on the gestures to have on a daily basis, on the ideas received , but also to manage their psoriasis in their relationship with other children, in the face of teasing or reflections, ”explains the association. The game will be available for free on the site theoetlespsorianautes.fr.
