Several sausages, sold in stores of System U, Lidl and Casino, are the subject of a recall. Traces of salmonella have been detected in cold cuts.
- Salmonella cause salmonellosis. It is a common disease with approximately 300 cases per million inhabitants per year in France. However, it is most often benign.
- The incubation period of the disease is on average 1-2 days.
- Contamination generally occurs via meat products (including cold cuts), eggs or raw milk (certain cheeses).
Be careful, before cutting yourself a slice of sausage: look carefully at the label. Several deli meats are being recalled because they are suspected of containing salmonella.
Some products were sold before the withdrawal. It is therefore recommended to check the label before consuming the sausage you have purchased.

Salmonella: what are the risks?
Salmonella are bacteria found in the intestines of animals that can contaminate the environment through their faeces. Resistant to cold, they can cause food poisoning. The symptoms of contamination are gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhoea, vomiting) of sudden onset, often accompanied by fever and headache. They generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of infected products.
While healthy people most often recover spontaneously after 3 to 5 days, fragile individuals such as pregnant women, young children, the elderly or immunocompromised can experience complications.
“People who have consumed these products and who present these symptoms are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption. In the absence of symptoms within 7 days after consumption of the products concerned, there is no need to worry. and see a doctor”specifies the site Drink reminder who shared the information about sausages contaminated with salmonella.
