Still undecided on the name of their candidate for the presidential election, a large majority of French people are, on the other hand, determined on the reasons for this choice. For 77% of them, the health program should influence their vote, according to the latest barometer carried out by Odoxa for France Inter and Le Figaro on a representative sample of the adult population, doctors and hospital directors.
And the message is clear: do not touch our health system. Eight out of ten French people consider it the best in Europe (69% of doctors, 68% of hospital directors). With a gold medal for the hospital which collects 86% of favorable opinions.
A notice received five out of five by the contenders for the Elysée, in particular François Fillon. The one who promised to break the house during the right-wing primary is limited today to wanting to change two or three pieces of furniture.
Nevertheless, this love of the citizen is not blind. More than one in two (54%) complains about waiting times to obtain an appointment with a specialist and expenses not covered by health insurance or complementary health insurance (40%), underlines the daily.
But the subject of medical deserts remains the black point of access to care. Consumers (86%) and players (83% of doctors, 96% of hospital directors) in healthcare are unanimous: the rules for compensating doctors do not sufficiently take into account the needs of patients. The State should regulate, say the French (81%) and directors (87%) where a majority of doctors (56%) oppose it. Only the directors recommend coercive measures to achieve this, the other populations questioned opt for more incentive methods.
Question sacrifice, are the insured ready to agree to it? On paper, in any case, the era of individual responsibility has come. More outpatient care, fewer sick leaves, more generics, the prescription that the citizen self-prescribes is severe. Nearly one in two (44%) would even agree that patients who have a poor lifestyle should be less well reimbursed. But the refrain is well known: it’s always the neighbor who abuses.
