We hear his name in everyone’s mouth and yet this game has not yet been released in France. Launched on July 7 in New Zealand, Australia and the United States, the Pokémon GO application, a Pokémon hunt (a character born in the 90s through Nintendo video games and cartoons) is already enjoying success in around the world (downloaded by 5% of smartphones on July 8).
Principle of the Pokémon Go application
The principle : go looking fore Pokemon in the real world. The application looks like a real stalking game, where augmented reality and geolocation mingle. You discover around you, at work, at the café, at the bookstore, these fantastic little characters. As you walk around, you can see on your phone’s geolocation map if there are Pokémon nearby.
The places that are rich in it? Monuments and public places (in town, in parks, etc.). When a Pokémon is near you, all you have to do is put yourself in “combat” mode: you will be able to visualize the animal (in cartoon) in your real environment. You just have to grab it and move on to the next one.
Pokémon Go, a social tool
It was thought that this application would isolate the bitten “trainers” but to hear some, it would be quite the opposite. “The Pokemon hunt pushes me to go out since the geolocation map tells me that they are hidden in frequented places, explains Mickaël, in full stalking with his daughter, in the Parc de la Villette (Paris).
The application could also create social link since the players talk to each other, help each other.
Pokémon Go pushes trainers to walk more
Another good point, hunting would to walk any further. “I cover 5 extra kilometers per day thanks to the Pokémon!” Exclaims Mickaël.
Indeed, according to the Jawbone brand, manufacturer of activity trackers, players spend twice as much when using the application.
Not so bad the Pokémon Go app …
