The Marseille judge in charge of the investigation for willful injuries in the context of the PIP prosthesis case decided not to compensate the 2,000 plaintiffs who had their prostheses removed as a preventive measure. The examining magistrate considers that these women were not victims of visible injuries easily noticed by the doctor since they removed their breast implants before they ruptured. For the magistrate, the women whose PIP prostheses have ruptured will be recognized as victims in this case.

In France, 30,000 breast prostheses have been fitted. For Philippe Courtois, the main lawyer for the victims, who spoke this morning on RTL’s antenna, “The victims who have not had a break will not be entitled to anything and that is scandalous. Because at the time there was a decision of the Medicines Agency affirming that these products are dangerous and a decision of the Ministry of Health a few months later, recommending the removal of prostheses ”.
The lawyers of the women who would not be compensated have already seized the Chamber of instruction to have this decision annulled.
