The physiotherapy students demonstrated to question their training program which “has not been reformed for 25 years”.
A thousand physiotherapists demonstrated Wednesday, November 5 in Paris to request the upgrading of their diploma to Master level (Bac +5). They were supported by around fifteen organizations representing the profession, as well as the CGT, FO and CFDT.
With “more than 40 hours of teaching per week”, the training corresponds to “more than five academic years condensed into three years”, says the National Federation of Physiotherapy Students (FNEK). Its president, Améliane Michon, underlines moreover that “the training program of physiotherapists has not been reformed for 25 years”.
“We are asking for an end to private competition, with the generalization of [première année commune de médecine], four years of specific training in an institute with a university agreement and a Master’s degree ”, explains Améliane Michon.
The three unions have filed a strike notice which concerns only a minority of hospital physiotherapists, since 80% of the 80,000 French physiotherapists are liberal.

Accessible by competitive examination after a first university year in medical school (in most cases), one year of private preparation or more rarely one year in sports faculty (Staps), the specific training of physiotherapists is currently carried out over three years. in authorized institutes.
If we are to believe the FNEK, an arbitration on the training of physiotherapists should be made public next Wednesday.
Verdict: arbitration next Wednesday! In the meantime, we remain MOBILIZED !!!
