The vaccine in the hands of pharmacists
“The only way to get there is through the city’s network and the doctor, nurse and pharmacist tripod” says the president of the Order of Pharmacists, Carine Wolf-Thal during a video conference press conference. Today nearly a million and a half people have received a first injection, which represents 2.4% of the population. But with these new vaccines, which do not have any logistical and conservation problems, the vaccination campaign could take on a new dimension in its fight against the coronavirus.
Good complementarity with vaccination centers
These new vaccines can be stored in conventional refrigerators. City pharmacists will be able to come to an understanding, collaborate with their counterparts in vaccination centers, to manage logistics but also making appointments, which will be much simpler. Thus, the population will have more possibilities for access to vaccines. For Gilles Bonnefond, president of the Union of community pharmacists unions, pharmacists are able to bring an undeniable acceleration to this vaccination campaign: “We vaccinated 1.5 million people against the flu in the first week of the vaccination campaign and 3.6 million in total. We know how to do it. Patients are asking us for it ”.
A new delivery scheduled for the second week of February
According to the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyer, the British-Swedish group will deliver nine million additional doses to the EU, bringing its total to forty million doses.
According to the leader of the European Commission who spoke to the German channel ZDF, European countries should vaccinate up to 70% of adults by the end of the summer.
