The decree had been awaited for several months: it has just been published in the Official Journal. THEhe dispensing of treatments for cystitis and allergic rhinitis, normally subject to a medical prescription, is now possible from your pharmacist without a prescription. No need, in the event of a urinary tract infection which occurs in the evening or on weekends, for example, to clutter the emergency room to obtain a prescription. This is one of the health law proposals which had been presented by the deputy of Charente Thomas Mesnier, who is also an emergency doctor.
During the presentation of his bill to the other deputies, Thomas Mesnier had specified that it was not a question of “giving a prescription right to pharmacists”, but rather of “giving access to additional care to the French for everyday pathologies such as angina or cystitis, this simple urinary tract infection that can be treated with a dose of antibiotics “.
“This will allow us, for example for cystitis, to give under certain conditions an antibiotic suitable for cystitis in women, provided that they are not recurrent, that there is no temperature, nor back pain. which may show a sign of aggravation “, explained Gilles Bonnefond, president of the Union of trade unions of dispensing pharmacists, during the presentation of this part of the health law.
