About 86 percent of the over-55s plan to be vaccinated. Young people between the ages of 18 and 34 are less positive about the vaccine: 65 percent of them want the shot. This is evident from figures from research agency Ipsos and the NOS.
Nationally, three in four Dutch people say they ‘definitely do’ or ‘probably do’ want to be vaccinated against corona. The willingness to take a vaccine is therefore increasing, in December the percentage was 69 percent and in November it was still 66 percent.
Skepticism
Refusers and doubters cite various reasons for their skepticism. For example, they are not sure about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines and they are afraid of side effects. Some of the doubters also prefer to wait until other Dutch people have been vaccinated.
Start of vaccination
The first healthcare workers have now been vaccinated in hospitals and nursing homes. The vaccination of people over 60 living at home will start in March. Younger people will be called upon to come and get a shot from April. Check here when you are called.
