The Minister of Solidarity and Health, Agnès Buzyn, has just announced the extension of the duration of paternity leave in the event of immediate hospitalization from child to birth. This leave, lasting 30 consecutive days, must be taken within four months of the birth. This extension of paternity leave will come into force on July 1.
30 days in addition to the 11 days of paternity leave
the paternity leave will therefore be extended in the event of hospitalization of the child in neonatal care units as well as in neonatal resuscitation units. The 30 days will be added to the 11 days of paternity leave (or 18 days in the event of multiple births) and 3 days of birth for employees.
“The immediate hospitalization of a child at birth, for example in the case of a premature child, is a potentially painful situation and a source of concern for the families concerned. It often requires the mobilization of both parents, which is difficult to reconcile with the resumption of professional activity, in particular for fathers whose leave is shorter. The government intends to improve the social protection of the fathers concerned for the duration of their work stoppage, and better support families having to face these particular situations “underlines the Minister. in a press release.
