Chilling out in a Spa, isn’t it wonderful. Now you can in the most beautiful refuge there is.
This Spa has everything. Called Octola, it is a five star private wilderness retreat in Finnish Lapland. And recently opened the Arctic’s first luxury Spa with pools, saunas and treatment rooms.
Most beautiful retreat ever
The Spa is set in 300 hectares of privately owned pine forest in the northernmost corner of Finland. Sure there are already a lot of these kinds of facilities, but this is different from everything else in Lapland. It is completely remote and completely sustainable. Also with a negative ecological footprint. However, it’s completely luxurious – now even more so, thanks to the addition of a sleek new Spa, which opened in January 2022.
Janne Honkanen, the founder and CEO of Luxury Action, calls it the “first private spa in the Arctic”. It has three new different pools. Including a cool bath, which simulates the experience of jumping into frozen water; a custom-built pool, complete with resistance flows and floor-to-ceiling windows. And an outdoor hot tub.
Saunas
A nice sweat is of course part of it. There are also two new sauna options: one is a Scandinavian chic wood-lined indoor facility and the other is an outdoor outfit made of ice blocks. Plus, there’s a separate spa cabin for yoga sessions and relaxation, complete with wood-burning fire.
“I firmly believe in the physical and spiritual healing power of nature,” Honkanen said in a recent press release. “Octola was designed to provide the inspiration and relaxation that this unique wilderness location can provide… A premium Spa has always been an important aspect of my vision.” It does cost some money, but you get a unique experience.
Just like the rest of Octola Private Wilderness, the new Spa was influenced by local Lappish and indigenous Sami cultural traditions and created with sustainability in mind. The property uses wind-generated electricity and drinking water directly from a well.
