Janette Pincott is 31 years old. This Briton suffers from polycystic ovarian syndrome (or Stein-Leventhal syndrome), a hormonal disorder that results in a disruption in the production of eggs in women. Clearly, instead of being released at the time of ovulation, the eggs turn into cysts, small pockets filled with fluid.
The disease causes fertility problems in young women. Also, 5 years ago, Janette and Justin, her husband, wanted to carry out in vitro fertilization, or IVF. Problem: Janette weighs 133 kg. Fearing for his health, the doctors refused him treatment.
A draconian diet … and a miracle
Janette is devastated by this terrible news, but refuses to give up. Goodbye junk food and ultra caloric sodas: the young woman converts to fruits and vegetables, and adopts green salad with all meals. To lose weight, she also takes up sport: every day, the young woman puts on sneakers and runs for 5 kilometers. “Every time I passed a pregnant woman, I had tears in my eyes. I wanted to be a mom so much!” she says.
The draconian diet is bearing fruit: in 2 years, the young Briton loses 25 kg. And then, one day, the miracle. In 2011, Janette took a pregnancy test … which turned out to be positive. “I took the test 10 times to be sure,” she says. “I couldn’t believe it: I got pregnant naturally, without IVF!”
The baby, named Charlie, was born healthy. Six months later, another surprise: Janette is pregnant with Zachary, her second child. Today, Janette has lost 44 kg, and even plans to participate in the Cardiff Half Marathon this year … Challenge met!
During your pregnancy, beware of antidepressants: according to a recent study, they predispose the baby to obesity …
