Nothing, the start-up of OnePlus founder Carl Pei, officially announces the Nothing Phone (1). This is the company’s first smartphone.
The Nothing Phone (1) continues design elements that we also saw with the Nothing Ear (1) (a set of earplugs). The phone has a transparent design and LED lighting.
That lighting is on the back and comes on when you receive a call, for example. In addition, the smartphone displays its charging status. They also serve as a kind of lamp for taking pictures in the dark.

The company calls that special lighting Glyph Interface. The LED lighting is behind a glass back; Fortunately, the manufacturer supplies a transparent cover as standard.
What is not present in the box: a charger. But that’s not strange. Parties such as Apple, Samsung and Sony no longer do that, so Nothing is simply following a modern trend.
In terms of specs, we come across a midrange Snapdragon 778G+ processor, accompanied by 8 to 12 GB of RAM. There is also support for 5G.
The OLED screen has a size of 6.55 inches, a resolution of Full HD and a (dynamic) refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz. The battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh.
Nothing OS and Android
Furthermore, there is 128 to 256 GB of RAM and we find two cameras on the back of fifty megapixels. The device runs on Nothing OS, a software shell on top of Android 12.
You can count on three years of updates. In addition to a case, Nothing also supplies a USB-c cable. The phone will soon be available in two versions: a black and white version.
The cheapest variant costs 469 euros (8 GB ram and 128 GB ROM), while the most expensive version costs 549 euros (12 GB ram and 256 GB ROM). The 8GB versions are immediately available for purchase.
