Eat dark chocolatecan have a positive effect on our mood and alleviate the depressive states, according to a new study conducted by the University college of London (Great Britain) among 13,600 participants. This study, published in the journal Depression and anxiety, is the first to look at the different types of chocolate to learn more about their antidepressant properties.
An effect obtained only with dark chocolate
According to the authors, dark chocolate consumers have a 70% lower risk of developing symptoms of depression. An antidepressant effect that they did not find in other consumers chocolate shapes. However, they still continue their research to determine the cause of this effect of chocolate on mood.
Previous studies have shown that chocolate is a natural antidepressant due to its high content in tyramine and phenylethylamine, two substances close to amphetamines.
