Each year, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the details of the number of injuries, illnesses, deaths that have occurred in the workplace during the last twelve months. The preliminary figures for the year 2013 have just been published and, like every year, it is the number of homicides which tops the number of accidents.
The good news this year is that the number of murders is down (395) compared to the previous year (475). But it is still surprising to realize that in the United States, we are more likely to be killed in the workplace than to die of an electrocution, the effects of drugs or alcohol or even death. ‘a fire or explosion. There is even a greater risk of dying from another individual than from a machine.

In fact, workplace homicides rank fourth behind traffic accidents on the way to work, being struck by an object and fatal falls.
The statisticians of the Labor Office also looked at the profile of the perpetrator of the homicide, his weapon of choice and the day he prefers to carry out his action.
