September 26, 2008 – The Mini-Psych School at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Montreal will offer, from October 29 to November 26, 2008, five new courses for the general public to demystify mental illness.
These courses, which take the form of one-hour lectures followed by a question-and-answer period, are all given by clinicians or researchers specializing in mental health.
Under the theme Mental health from yesterday to tomorrow, the third edition of the Mini-Psych School will dive into the history of psychiatry to address current issues in mental health and discuss scientific breakthroughs that the future may hold.
The courses offered are:
- Has psychiatry rid us of “madness”? (October 29)
- Does Mental Illness Really Exist? (November 5)
- Medication in psychiatry: should we be wary of it? (November 12)
- Mental Illness and the Legal Environment: Should We Blame the “Disin”? (November 19)
- Will the human brain be able to unlock its own secrets? (November 26)
