Since yesterday, the French Red Cross has been offering migrants a new tool to improve their access to care and their medical follow-up: a medical follow-up logbook. This little red notebook, translated into Arabic and French, will be handed out during mobile nursing consultations by Red Cross personnel in Île-de-France. According to the association, it will allow simpler and more effective medical care: migrants will also be able to be directed more quickly to the most appropriate care structures.
A facilitating support
This document will remain personal and confidential, for the use of professionals, who will have access to medical information such as family, surgical and medical history, as well as allergies or illnesses. The notebook will serve as a support for the medical consultation and should facilitate the exchange, sometimes difficult, between health professionals and migrants.
The system is currently in place in the 46 migrant reception centers in Île-de-France, ten of which are directly managed by the association, but should be extended to the entire territory, including overseas territories. -Wed.
