Also official Mercedes preparer within the Daimler group, the “wizard” of Affalterbach has since extended his range with the GT Roadster and the GT Coupé 4-door, ie three models available in multiple versions. Buthe GT Coupé and Roadster that we know are about to bow out.
The Mercedes-AMG GT lives its last month
Mercedes-AMG will stop taking orders for the GT Coupé and Roadster in December 2021. If you are considering a new copy, you better hurry. The new SL for comfort, the future GT for sport
Mercedes is preparing a new generation of GT Coupé, which would carry the type C192 internally. It will not be available as a roadster, the seventh Mercedes SL of the name designed by AMG coming to take this place in the range. But the future GT will not be just an SL with a fixed roof. It could be more radical than its predecessor, while the discoverable, although already offering 585 hp at the top of the range, is more comfortable than trail. Like the latest SL, the next GT will be based on Mercedes’ new MSA (Modular Sports Architecture) platform.

Philipp Schiemer, chief executive of Mercedes-AMG, reportedly told British journalists aboutAuto Express : ” The drivers of our GTs like to go on the track with their vehicle. […] This is where GT drivers hang out. Traditional SL owners are not that keen on the trail, but rather interested in the ride. And Jochen Hermann, CTO at Mercedes-AMG, added: ” Obviously, the GT will be a very different car from the SL because, although we use the same mechanical architecture and the same structural bases concerning the body for example, we have to make the GT an even sportier car. ” The production start of the future Mercedes-AMG GT is scheduled for January 2023.
