Medicines Agency (ANSM) now intends to provide an information sheet to men who would be prescribed finasteride against their baldness. In question ? It is likely to cause sexual and psychiatric disorders. The aim is to allow patients “to give themselves a period of reflection before starting this long-term treatment”.
Side effects of unlimited duration
More precisely, the file given by the doctor will contain the mention of the potential “disorders of erection, ejaculation, testicular pain and a decrease in libido” underlines the press release of the ANSM. A precision is added as to the duration of the side effects which could continue after stopping the treatment, without specifying the time.
A man had committed suicide while being treated with finasteride, and two others had reported pain after taking the drug. The sheet will also contain a statement concerning mental disorders. On November 12, justice was seized for an investigation aimed at establishing the link between anti-baldness and the effects described by the three men.
