Not a record he’s going to miss
Achieving something big sometimes makes you lose something else. Even if it only lasted 30 awkward seconds, it counts. If Max Verstappen were to become world champion this weekend (and that is a possibility) he will return a certain record to Sir Stirling Moss. The Dutchman is currently the driver with the most F1 victories without a world title. Currently there are nineteen victories in the name of Max Verstappen.
Stirling Moss has been called the ‘best driver to never win a championship’. In his seven-year F1 career, he finished second in the championship four times and third the other times. Coulthard (13), Reutemann (12), Barrichello (11) and Massa (11) are also in the list of drivers with many wins and no championship. And how about Bottas with ten wins but not a single world championship yet?
Records that Verstappen will not lose soon
Max was 17 when he drove his first race for Toro Rosso, holding the record for the youngest driver to drive an F1 race. The rules have since changed and drivers must now be at least 18 years old before being allowed to compete in F1. He is also the youngest driver ever to score points in an F1 race. Other records such as the youngest driver to ever win a race may still be snatched, but probably not anytime soon.
