MgCL: this is the chemical formula of magnesium chloride, one of the forms of magnesium, this mineral which participates in hundreds of physiological mechanisms.
“It was during the war of 14-18, under the impetus of Professor Delbet, army surgeon, that magnesium chloride was tested on wounds”, specifies Anne Portier, naturopath and president of the Organization of natural medicine and health education.
“A few decades later, it was discovered that magnesium chloride was a cofactor of an immune protein that acts on non-specific immunity, that is to say without distinction according to antigens and antibodies. It also facilitates the transit, thus allowing faster elimination of pathogenic bacteria from the intestine.” Hence an anti-infective, antiseptic and stimulating effect on the immune system, which is valuable in the event of infectious diseases, fatigue or infected wounds.
What are the benefits of magnesium chloride?
A preventive action on the level of immunity : studied in 1932 by Dr Auguste Neveu, it demonstrated its ability to boost the body’s defenses by increasing the number of white blood cells in the blood. By acting in prevention or at the first symptoms, magnesium chloride fights infectious diseases such as angina, colds, flu, sinusitis, otitis…
Aficionados also use it to fight against fatigue, boost their energy, their resistance, their ability to memorize, to clean up their digestive system and thus regain more radiant skin. By exerting a general action on internal balances, magnesium chloride is therefore often used as a 3-week cure to treat various minor ailments at the same time: by soothing stress, it promotes more restful sleep; by relaunching the transit, it limits acne breakouts…
>> Its contraindications: andn internal, it is contraindicated in case of renal insufficiency and diarrhoea.

Organic and health food stores offer nigari, a Japanese sea salt containing 80% magnesium chloride, a good natural alternative, but be sure to increase the dosage (3 tablespoons for 1 liter of water) . Warning: it absorbs moisture very quickly.
Did you know ? Its bitter taste is quite dissuasive even when it is drunk in one gulp. So cheat… Add a little lemon juice to the solution before drinking it, then rinse your mouth with cool water afterwards because, luckily, its unpleasant flavor does not resist it. Some also mix it with a little fruit juice but this cocktail does not really taste better.
