Viviane Schaller, doctor of pharmacy and former manager of a biological analysis laboratory in Strasbourg, has applied for years a test protocol for the detection of lyme disease alternative, which allowed thousands of patients to discover that they were indeed affected by the disease while the “official” test affirmed the opposite.
The only problem: this alternative test is not approved by the health authorities. This is why Viviane Schaller was prosecuted for fraud health insurance before the Strasbourg Criminal Court.
Sentenced at first instance to 9 months suspended prison sentence and a fine of 280,000 euros to be paid to Health Insurance, the biologist appealed. But the Colmar Court of Appeal has just confirmed the sentence.
The president of the association Lyme sans frontières declared herself “scandalized” by the sentence imposed on Ms. Schaller, denouncing the “denial” of the disease of Lyme by the public authorities. Viviane Schaller has announced her desire to appeal in cassation.
