Lourdes: an Italian recognized cured of her hypertension attacks

The sanctuaries of Lourdes have just announced this Sunday, a 69^th miraculous healing was formalized by the Bishop of Pavia in Italy. The miraculous woman is an Italian mother and it was in 1989 that her sudden recovery took place in the city of Lourdes.

Born January 16, 1946, Danila Castelli, wife and mother, led an ordinary life until the age of 34 when she began to suffer from severe spontaneous hypertensive crises. In 1982, radiological examinations and ultrasounds revealed a para-uterine mass and a fibromatous uterus. Danila then underwent a hysterectomy and adnexectomy. In November 1982, she underwent a partial removal of the pancreas. A scan confirms the following year the presence of “pheochromocytoma” (tumor disease producing catecholamines) in the area of ​​the rectum, bladder and vagina. Several surgeries were then performed in the hope of eliminating the points causing the blood pressure attacks until 1988, without any results.

In May 1989, during a pilgrimage to Lourdes, Danila leaves the pools of the sanctuary where she was bathed and feels an extraordinary well-being. She soon declared her sudden recovery to the Office of Medical Observations in Lourdes. After five meetings (1989, 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2010) the Bureau noted the cure by a formal and unanimous vote: “Mrs. Castelli has been cured, in a complete and lasting way, since her pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1989, there are 21 years, of the syndrome from which she suffered, and this without relation to the interventions and the treatments ”.

Danila Castelli has since returned to a completely normal life. The CMIL (International Medical Committee of Lourdes) in its meeting of November 19, 2011 in Paris certified “that the mode of its cure remains unexplained in the current state of scientific knowledge”. On June 20, 2013, Mgr Giovanni Giudici, bishop of the diocese of Pavia (Italy) where Danila Castelli resides, declared the “prodigious-miraculous” character and the “sign” value of this healing. It is the 69th healing of Lourdes recognized as miraculous by a bishop.
