Lotus’ first SUV, codenamed Type 132, is still camouflaged in a few “stolen” photos. This large 100% electric vehicle will be presented in the spring of 2022 and then produced in China.
Lotus recently announced its first electric SUV, codenamed Type 132. brand’s ultimate thermal engine model. The Hethel firm will not stop making sports cars, however, an electric sports car co-developed with Alpine is also planned. The Type 132 was first seen on the road. Despite the heavy camouflage of the two photographed prototypes, their silhouette can be guessed.

An electric family Lotus
Lotus has belonged to the Chinese group Geely since 2017, its SUVs will be produced in China, and that’s where the Type 132 was seen being tested. The length of the vehicle is visually accentuated by its relatively low headroom and its very sloping rear pillars. These style elements reflect its sporty orientation, as well as its imposing rims housing brake discs of a generous diameter, and its contained overhangs.

The technical characteristics of the Type 132 remain to be known, but Lotus has announced that its architecture can accommodate wheelbases ranging from 2.89 m to 3.10 m and battery capacities of between 92 kWh and 120 kWh.

The Lotus SUV presented in the spring
Through a few teasers, Lotus previously hinted at a new aesthetic language for the Type 132, giving pride of place to some complex and angular geometric shapes and the highlighting of certain high-tech equipment such as radars dedicated to driving aids. An image of the vehicle seen from the front in the dark also announced an aggressive “look” passing through very fine comma-shaped lights. The Lotus Type 132 should be presented, with its final name, in the spring of 2022.
