If the words “konjac” and “enfermiste” mean nothing to you? Along with other health-related terms, they are however entering the Larousse dictionary this year.
Like every year, Larousse has unveiled the new words of the French language which will enter the dictionary of 2023. And of the 150 selected, many are related to health, in particular because of the health crisis.
long covid
Long Covid is the name commonly given to the long-term sequelae caused by Covid-19 in infected people, even after the typical recovery period.
Sanitary pass
Intended to filter access to certain places or transport, the health pass is a certificate which proves vaccination against Covid-19 or a negative test of less than 72 hours.
Vaccination pass
More restrictive, the vaccination pass is based on the same concept as the health pass, that is to say the presentation of a document proving only that one is completely vaccinated against Covid-19 to access certain places.
Vaccinator
Refers to a person who has the capacity and authorization to vaccinate (firefighters, nurses, doctors, etc.).
Vaccinodrome
Place where collective vaccination is practiced and which has been specially designed for this, in the context of an epidemic. A vaccinodrome is therefore generally not a health building, but a public place, such as a gymnasium.
Grossophobia
Hostility, see hatred, towards fat or obese people.
Cyber harassment
Harassment carried out by electronic means, in particular on social networks.
Konjac
Konjac is a plant cultivated in Asia and used therapeutically since the end of the 18th century. Recently arrived in France, it is particularly recommended as part of a diet to lose weight, because it is satiating and very low in calories.
State medical aid
State medical aid (AME) is a system allowing foreigners in an irregular situation to benefit from access to healthcare. It is awarded subject to residency and resource conditions.
Narcissistic pervert
It is a man or a woman with personality traits whose sliders are pushed to the extreme that they go beyond the social norm, tipping the disorder into the psychiatric field.
Slip syndrome
Slipping syndrome in an elderly person is characterized by a significant and abrupt change in behavior. She suddenly has no taste for anything anymore, considering that her life is no longer worth living.
Reassuring
Someone who likes to reassure. Since the start of the health crisis, this adjective has often been used to qualify people who minimize the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Encloser
Supporter of enfermisme. This adjective is regularly used to refer to people who want tough management of the Covid-19 epidemic, in particular through the implementation of restrictive health measures, such as confinements.
