The data that these academics have made speak for are irrevocable: consultations, and care for mental disorders, are significantly less numerous in volume, for an equal population, at the seaside, compared to the statistics of inhabited areas surrounded by green spaces. .
Green spaces are not as calming as the sea
One of the authors of the study, Amber L. Pearson, explains that the sight of green spaces does not provide the same feeling of calm as the sea view. According to him, this could be explained in particular by the fact that the sea view is totally natural, when the view of a countryside or mountain landscape is often meshed with human constructions.
The study only worked on populations with a sea view, but will soon integrate the one with a view of large lakes.
