A 44-year-old man died after being attacked by wasps whose nest he was trying to destroy.
A father died in Auxangedans, in the Jura, after being stung ten times by wasps. The man was trying to overcome a nest installed in his garden, reports the newspaper the Republican East.
The facts took place Saturday, July 18, in the evening. The man allegedly tried to destroy the wasp nest, his wife having been stung several times in the previous weeks. During the operation, and despite his precautions – he had put on clothes to cover his skin – the swarm would have turned violently against him.

Strong heat
Stung on multiple occasions, the father of the family died of a heart attack. His wife tried to revive him at first, without success. Once there, the emergency services also failed to save him.
According to a spokesperson for firefighters quoted by AFP, “this type of accident is not so rare”. Two serious discomforts following bites were thus identified last week in the department. The strong heat would be involved, they which “make the insects very aggressive”.
After the tragedy, firefighters were tasked with destroying the nest, which contained around 100 wasps. One of the team members got himself stung despite his full suit. “The insects managed to go through the smallest hole to attack,” said the mayor of the town.
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Jura recalled the recommendations to avoid bites. Do not approach nests, or adopt abrupt behavior in the presence of an insect. It is also important not to walk barefoot in the grass and to avoid perfumes and deodorants, the fruity smell of which attracts these insects.
