Science fiction becomes reality with Motorola’s second-generation Air Charging, which allows you to charge up to 4 smartphones over the air.
In recent decades we have been charging smartphones and other devices with a cable. Recently, on the other hand, there has been a lot of news in that area. A few years ago, wireless charging via a charging pad was introduced. Smartphones can now be charged by air. Motorola announces the next generation of this sci-fi technology, allowing you to charge multiple devices through the air at the same time.
Motorola refines wireless charging over the air
The next generation of wireless over-the-air charging is in the works, so late Motorola in a video see (via XDA-Developers). The technology is still in its infancy, although limitations are slowly but surely being removed. Also the limitation to charge multiple devices at the same time.
Technically, Xiaomi claimed the same thing earlier this year, though we’ve seen little of that in action. In addition, Xiaomi processed only 144 antennas is the transmitting cube, while Motorola has upgraded their technology to 1600 pieces! The technical specifications are not known, so it is not clear what the actual difference is. Yet Motorola is roughly the first to show the technology in action.
Oppo is also working on a similar technology. What once again makes Motorola the winner of over-the-air wireless charging tech is the distance. According to the brand, you can sit up to 3 meters from the charger and receive power. Motorola’s main limiting actor for now is its overall reach. The Air Charging transmitter box has a 100 degree active area for the charger.
It is not yet known to what extent Motorola’s technology will be released as a product. But seeing as they show it anyway, makes this sci-fi tech look pretty promising.
